I finally have something I can share. I have been absolutely flat out, creating my little heart out, but I haven't been able to share anything. Most of my work has gone to the CHA with Kaisercraft, and to magazines for publication over the next few months. But these few layouts came out in the latest 'Australian Scrapbook Ideas' yesterday, so I can show them :) ........ I did a feature for them on journalling. ( I can hear Sue laughing from here) She is always telling me I don't journal enough on my layouts. And when I was asked to do a feature on journalling, it really pushed me out of my comfort zone. But it was a good lesson, as really, the journalling is the most important part of scrapbooking. Without it, its really just a page of pretty pictures. So Ive made it my 'mission' to journal more on my layouts, and record the important memories :) .... Here's what I did for the magazine.........
The above layout is a photo of my youngest DS, showing strip type journalling, and using rub on quotes for journalling
This layout is a photo of my Dad. The journalling is handwritten around the outside of the layout. It is a very meaningful layout to me. Telling my Dad how much I love him, and how thankful I am that HE is my Dad :)
And this last layout is again, of my youngest son. This 'SMILE' just cracks me up. He started doing it just before 2, and still does it now at 3, when he sees the camera. He thinks he looks great. We now have to tell him not to smile when trying to take a photo of him...LOL.... Thew journalling is hidden in the envelope on this layout.
Thank you so much for calling in, and for all the wonderful comments. I love reading them, and really appreciate the time taken to write them.
Karen your layouts are always a work of art. And I agree you really need to journall as it tells us the story.
ReplyDeleteI saw those in ASI and loved them!! I especially love the Smile Harry LO - great to see the Christmas collection with a non Christmasy theme! Might have to scrap lift that one!
ReplyDeleteAlso love how you inked the edges of the strip journaling - I'll have to give it a go, it really makes it pop off the page.
And I love how you journaled around the border - never done that but am putting it on my to do list!!
Thanks Karen! :) :)
They are gorgeous Karen!!! Look forward to seeing the next lot of stuff you can share :).
ReplyDeleteLovin' your work as always Karen! I especially love the 'Smile' LO, it really put a smile on my face and gave me a giggle. (My Miss 3 has a weird grin she often puts on when we go to take pics and we have to tell her 'no, not that one, your NICE smile!' LOL) Love that you are on a mission to journal more too - I tell myself that every other week! XXX
ReplyDeletefabulous creativity - those photos of your youngest and his smile, totally crack me up ... and you've got to wonder what he is going to think when he sees them when he older. The colours are gorgeous on the layout of your Dad.
